Parang reviewed by Beryl

Parvan by Deborah Ellis

This book is about a refugee called Parvana. She lives with her parents and two sisters and brother. In Afghanistan women and girls are not allowed to leave the house without a man. Women are not allowed to go out of the house without covering every part of your body. When soldiers burst into her home and put her father to prison. Parvana is forced to dress as a boy and work for her family. I recommend this book because it is very realistic.

Little Warrior by Giuseppe Catozzella

This book is about a fearless girl named, Samia. Samia lives in Somalia with her family of seven. Samia lives with another family in the same house. Ali  (who lived with them) was best friends with Samia. Thy treated each other like siblings and they both liked running. When Ali gave up running he promised to coach Samia. Samia won lots of contests because of him. Overall this book is about bravery and friendship. I recommend this book to children and adults who love stories about bravery.
